Pearce Illmer

Pearce joined Varsity Vocals in 2016 as our ICHSA Southwest Producer. Bass 2 by birth but Soprano 1 in his heart, Pearce has been annoying family and friends with his voice ever since he was a wee lad. After singing everywhere from the car to all-state choirs and vocal jazz groups in high school, Pearce officially joined the contemporary a cappella scene at the University of Texas, where he was scooped up by the mixed group, One Note Stand.

Pearce served as music director and primary arranger for One Note Stand for three years, leading the group to a 4th place finish at the ICCA Southwest Semifinal and earning the Outstanding Arrangement award in the quarterfinal and semifinal round. Pearce also arranged and produced the group’s first studio album, Yours, due to drop this October.

Pearce holds a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Business Honors with minors in Finance, Management Information Systems, and Music Production from the University of Texas. He now works in Houston for Shell Oil as a marketing analyst, and he is also a freelance a cappella producer, arranger, and clinician for groups across Texas.

Pearce is so thankful to continue to be a part of the a cappella community and can’t wait to empower young singers to find themselves through music!

Singing notes that are way too high for him; FOOD!; movies; FOOD!; ’90s sitcoms (Friends > Seinfeld > everything else); sports (especially tennis, ultimate frisbee, and golf); Super Smash Bros.; every other nerdy activity; long walks on the beach, preferably discussing the topics listed above.

Pearce and One Note Stand perform “Dog Days Are Over” …

… and “Midnight/Maps” at the Boston Sings A Cappella Festival in 2016.
