McKinley fell in love with a cappella at his first ICHSA Quarterfinal in 2018. He went on to become an ICHSA Finalist and award-winning choreographer, further fueling his passion for the art form. Since then, McKinley has had the opportunity to lead UW–Eau Claire’s Impromptu A Cappella as an arranger and vocal percussionist, as well as serving as President, Music Director, and Competition Director, before returning to Varsity Vocals during his senior year through the Production Assistant Training Program. After graduating with a BS in Music and an Arts Administration certificate, McKinley continued working with Varsity Vocals as a Day-of Producer and judge, while also freelancing as an arranger for groups throughout Southeastern Wisconsin. He is excited to officially join the team as an Associate Producer!

Concurrently, McKinley works at the University School of Milwaukee as an Administrative Assistant, where he enjoys connecting with students and colleagues to foster meaningful relationships and excellence in education. He lives at home with his husband, Kyle, and their two cats, Casper and Hazel. Kyle claims to have his own personal radio, as McKinley can never stop singing around the house! Music will forever be a part of McKinley’s life, inspiring the next generation of creativity, individuality, and assiduity.
